Volunteers are needed for Station collections
Metro has another opportunity to hold a collection day, this time at Victoria train station on the 30 September 2022, from 7:30 am until 7:30 pm. Can you help us to raise money to continue to provide support for sporting and social activities across London?
We are looking for people to come along and help us. Assistance dogs are welcome; if you would like to bring a friend for support, that would be great!.
We still have places left at our Waterloo station collection on 26 August 2022, and it would be great to have you there; the more, the merrier!
We will have a rota so you choose what hours you would like to do.
Before starting, people need to bring a photo ID and sit through a ten-minute safety brief.
If you are interested in being part of the day, helping us to raise awareness of the charity and to raise some funds, we would love to hear from you
You will be supplied with collection boxes and tee shirts which you will be able to keep as a thank you after the day.
Please reply to tracie.tappenden@metroblindsport.org with details of what you can offer on the day.
With very best wishes and grateful thanks
Tracie Tappenden

Volunteering with Metro!
Metro Blind Sport currently supports a volunteer sport leader assigned to several of our core sports: archery, athletics, bowls, tennis, cricket and football.
The role of each Sport Lead is to help Metro Blind Sport grow participation and engagement in their sport, to successfully integrate new participants and to provide logistical support at tournaments, training sessions and events.
We also have volunteers who support our activity in many ways, from scoring at the cricket, through to guiding players around the tennis court, playing bowls or photographing events.
All our volunteers play a crucial role in supporting sport and physical activity participation.
You will need to have a willingness to learn and have good communication skills and the ability to initiate face to face conversation.
An awareness of the sight loss sector is preferable but not essential, although you need to be comfortable volunteering in an environment where guide dogs may be present.
Volunteering can be extremely rewarding as you will gain a connection with others and gain a sense of achievement by supporting others to succeed. Volunteering can be a great addition to a CV and training will be given.
