Metro Blind Sport Bowlers do well in Hastings!
10 Metro bowlers travelled to Hastings on the 13th of July and had a roll-up in the afternoon to get ready for the 52nd Annual Hastings Tournament that started on the Sunday morning.
Their helper John arrived on the Monday and stayed until the end of the games on the Friday afternoon. John and most of the bowlers then stayed for the presentation and buffet on Friday evening, before travelling home on Saturday.

The tournament was divided into 4 sections: Open Triples, Open Pairs, Open Singles and a B1 section for the totally blind bowlers. On the Sunday, the tournament started with the triples in which Metro had 3 teams.
While these games were taking place, Eric had a radio in his pocket with an earpiece so he could keep up with what was happening at Lords in the cricket final. The Metro team that did the best, Eric, Junette and John Roulston in his first Hastings Tournament, managed to win all their games until the final on Friday where they lost to Preston.
In the Pairs Tournament, in which Metro had 5 teams, they did even better. The Metro team of Wilbert and Gause won their way through to the final on Friday and beat the favourites from Preston to lift the cup.
In the B1 tournament, Eric won all his games so retaining the cup which he won last year, and Amit came runners-up again, only losing to Eric. Constance was in the winning team on the Friday afternoon who played for the Plate. All found it a very enjoyable tournament, and without a doubt the highlight was Wilbert and Gause lifting the Pairs cup.
The Hastings Tour next year will start on 12 July .
