Please join Merton Sports and Social Club (MSSC) for a picnic in Richmond Park on Saturday 18th June,  to mark MSSC’s 40th year as a registered charity.

All are welcome, whether cycling, walking or by some other means of transport.

Tandem pilots and stokers will gather at our base at Old Ruts ( Old Rutlishians’ Sports Ground, Poplar Road, Merton Park SW19 3JS) around 9.30 am to ride to Richmond Park in small groups. Solo cyclists are also very welcome.

After a ride around the park, we will settle for a picnic in the vicinity of Pembroke Lodge.  We will aim to return to Old Ruts by around 3 pm.  Non-cyclists are welcome to join us for the picnic from 11.00 pm.

So that we can get an idea of numbers and how much cake might be needed, please register for the event via the link below:

Register by Google Form: https://tinyurl.com/CycleNPicnic

Please bring your own snack or you can buy food and drink from one of the cafes in the park (Pembroke Lodge will be close by).  Anniversary cake will be provided

Please be aware, if you are a dog owner, that from 1st May until 31st July, it will be compulsory to have your dog on a lead in all areas of the park because of the deer birthing season.

We will be organising a special 40th-anniversary walk later in the year.

Tandem Cycling with MSSC

Tandem Cycling with the Merton Sports and Social Club (MSSC)

Merton Sports and Social Club for Visually Impaired People (MSSC) has been organising tandem cycle rides for over thirty years from its base in Colliers Wood.  The club has a fleet of tandem bicycles and pairs up sighted front riders with visually impaired back riders for regular outings.

Our regular rides open to all members will begin on Saturday 22 May 2021, then on the first and third Saturday morning of each month after that, unless the government guidelines change.

To register interest in a ride well in advance, please email cycling@mssc.org.uk

MSSC are keen to see as many people as possible experiencing the joy of tandem cycling and all its physical, mental and social benefits. So, they would like to know, Covid notwithstanding, if you have ever fancied having a go at tandem cycling with MSSC, but have never actually booked up for one of their rides, what is stopping you?

Is it lack of experience, lack of fitness, lack of confidence, transport issues or perhaps the timings of rides?

Whatever it is, please let MSSC know, and they can see what they can do to address your concerns.  Email them at cycling@mssc.org.uk.
