VI Tennis Regional Tournaments Calendar 2020

The LTA are really excited to announce that there will be 11 Regional VI Tournaments in 2020!! Most dates are now finalised with just a few of the ones at the end of the year needing to be confirmed by venues.

Hopefully, these extra tournaments might mean some of you don’t need to travel so far to compete as we have a nice spread of where the new ones are taking place.

Metro Members Win 5 Trophies!

METRO MEMBERS BRING HOME TROPHIES FROM LOUGHBOROUGH

 It was the first VI Regional Tennis tournament of 2018 on Saturday 24th February in Loughborough.  Despite the cold temperatures and the joy of the rail replacement bus, 4 metro members headed north to participate in the event.

Although the field was dominated by players from the North East and Yorkshire, Metro members managed to claim five of the trophies on offer.

Masuma Ali and her partner Nikhil Nair took first place in the B1 Mixed doubles.

Christian Bolton-Edenborough took both runner-up positions to the veteran Jim Currie in the B3 mens ‘singles’  and the B2-5 mens’ doubles’ along with his partner Shane Downing.

Joanna Turnbull was awarded the trophy for B2 ladies’ singles having played a tough match with the newcomer Frankie Rohan from the Tees Valley.   Also, Joanna was paired with teenage tennis star Lydia Wrightson from Yorkshire where the pair made the final and finished runner-up to Sarah Fortescue and Gillian Currie.
