GLL Sport Foundation Applications

GLL Sport Foundation Applications are open until 20 Feb 2020

The GLL Sport Foundation applications are open!

Ahead of a huge year of UK and World sport in 2020, Lambeth’s next generation of title-chasing athletes can apply for support in going for gold in the big events next year, thanks to the GLL Sport Foundation, the UK’s largest independent athlete support programme in partnership with Lambeth’s Gifted and Talented Scheme.

The GLL Sport Foundation (GSF) launched in 2008, by charitable social enterprise, GLL – operator of public leisure facilities in Lambeth- helps aspiring sporting talent fulfil their potential. Supported athletes can benefit from financial support, physiotherapy, gym memberships at GLL’s Better sport and leisure facilities and more.

GSF supports athletes across its regional network in 73 areas of the UK. In 2019, GSF supported over 3,000 athletes across 117 sporting disciplines, taking its total investment to £11 million in 11 years.

Previously, this support has contributed to the success of athletes including Lambeth based Flora Perkins, GSF SportsAid supported cyclist, who said “The GLL sports foundation helps me to travel and compete around the country where I gain experience through racing. It also enables me to get equipment that helps me to perform the best that I can.”

I have attached the criteria through the following hyperlink: GLL Sport Foundation Criteria

Applications can be submitted via the GLL Sport Foundation website from 20th December 2019 to 20th February 2020.

Working Age Forum Lambeth 27 Nov

South East London Working Age Forum in Lambeth - 27 Nov 2019!

South East London Working Age Forum in Lambeth

After having great success with our Working Age Forum, London Vision is piloting the delivery of our forums more locally across the capital.  We have been delivering this in south west London since spring 2019 as a pilot and are now rolling this out across the south east London region.

We will be hosting the first event in the London borough of Lambeth, and others in neighbouring boroughs in the new year. At this launch event our guest speaker Roger Lewis will be sharing his personal sight loss journey, discussing barriers, employment, disability and influencing others. You will also hear from a beneficiary of our Works for Me employment programme who recently secured a 9-month internship with Pocklington Trust.

Event details

When: Wednesday 27 November 2019, 18:00 – 20:00
Where: Morley College Campus. Stockwell Centre. London. SW4 6RA
(2 minutes’ walk from Stockwell Underground – Northern & Victoria Line)
Contact: waf.london@londonvision.org
London vision tel: 0203 761 3651

We can provide assistance from Stockwell Underground Station to those who request it upon booking their place. To register, please email us no later than Wednesday 20 November at: waf.london@londonvision.org

Meeting and talking to other attendees is an important part of the forum,  so there will be an hour of networking after we hear from our guest speakers, with refreshments provided.

We recognise that having a locally based forum provides added benefits, allowing members to engage with services and support uniquely available in the area, whilst also providing opportunities for meeting like-minded people living in similar circumstances. For this reason, we are collaborating with statutory and sector partners in south east London to establish a Working Age Forum for the blind and partially sighted community.
