Disability equality training courses with DSC

Disability equality training courses with DSC and London Sport

New Disability Equality training to improve access to sport services for disabled people

A bespoke workshop aiming to improve the knowledge and confidence of sport, tourism and leisure professionals

Disability Sports Coach and London Sport have partnered to deliver disability equality training courses that aim to ensure disabled people have improved experiences when accessing sport services and facilities in London.

The tailored, bespoke course improves individuals’ knowledge and understanding of barriers that deaf and disabled people may face in a sports facility, reasons why it is important and beneficial to make services inclusive and how organisations can effectively engage with deaf and disabled people.

Who is the course for?

This is an introductory course suitable for any organisation that provides services in sport, leisure and tourism.

What the course delivers?

  • Understand the business case for providing inclusive services
  • Identify steps that could be taken to remove specific barriers in your facility
  • Understand the Equality Act 2010 legislation
  • Explore different methods of communication
  • Explore how to use terminologies appropriately

The course is 3 hours long with a comfort break

£600 + tutor travel expenses. A 20 person capacity classroom is required.

COURSE DETAILS

The Blind and Visually Impaired Tennis Course is aimed at accredited Level 2 and above coaches who would like to develop their skills to work with blind and visually impaired tennis players.

The seven-hour course will improve the participant’s knowledge, confidence and delivery of blind and visually impaired tennis sessions. The course involves a large practical element which often involves coaching players with disabilities day.

The topics covered in the course include:

  • An overview of the ranges of blind and visually impaired tennis
  • Inclusion and integration of blind and visually impaired tennis players
  • Knowledge and understanding of blind and visually impaired tennis and how to adapt tennis to suit different abilities
  • Communication with blind and visually impaired tennis players,
  • Activities, drills, match play and tactics.
