Step Change Studios’ new production Fairly Tales, which will premier at Sadler’s Wells LBS on 27th June at 7.30pm.
Supported by Arts Council England, Fairy Tales brings together 20 talented disabled and non-disabled artists to present original dance. The show is approximately 60-minutes including an audience Q&A with the cast. We will also be delivering dance in schools and to older people in the local community as part of the project.
Following the success of its premier show Fusion in 2018, Step Change Studios returns to Sadler’s Wells Lilian Baylis Studio with Fairy Tales. This latin and ballroom-inspired show brings together disabled and non-disabled artists to present dynamic, captivating dance that cuts across convention placing artistry, ability and storytelling at its heart.

The stories we experience as children inform our imagination, aspirations and sense of self. Within the naïve narrative of ‘Once upon a time, and happy ever after’ are universal themes that transcend physical and social boundaries. Drawing on these themes, Fairy Tales celebrates the art of storytelling through creative, engaging and original dance.
In just 2-years of establishing Step Change Studios, we have supported over 2,000 disabled people to dance, and received a number of accolades including the One Dance UK Award for Innovation. I remain committed to improving wellbeing through community dance, and supporting a more diverse dance sector by showcasing talent.
