SOS – Save our Swimming!
An important message from the MSSC Committee to all Merton Sports and Social Club Members and friends:
Time is running out for MSSC’s weekly swimming session, held each Thursday evening at the Canons, Mitcham. The club can no longer afford the huge subsidy required to run the one-hour, weekly swimming session, exclusive to MSSC members at a cost of £3 a head. In order to reduce the subsidy and make this activity viable, we desperately need to increase the number of participants.
Come along and have fun, dip your toe in the water, take the plunge, go with the flow and help throw MSSC Swimming a lifeline.

There are just one more Thursday evening session on the 6th June, before MSSC is required to sign a contract for a further three months. It is with deep regret that the committee has reached the decision that, unless the number of participants increases significantly at each of those sessions, the contract, unfortunately, will not be renewed and the swimming sessions will cease at the end of June.
Swimming is a great exercise, and even simply bobbing about in the warm water is a wonderful feeling. There is sighted support available, with getting in and out of the pool and using the changing facilities.
Those MSSC members, who regularly attend the session, say how massively they benefit, feeling relaxed and being able to swim freely, amongst a small number of friends in a large pool, accessible exclusively to MSSC members for that one hour.
For any members living in the borough of Merton, door to door transport is available, thanks to our dedicated volunteer drivers, at a further cost of £3 a head. It may also be possible to arrange to meet people at a nearby train, tram or bus stop.
