In just a matter of clicks, you can now buy British Blind Sport merchandise including running tethers, guide running bibs and swimming caps online with the peace of mind of secure payments and home delivery. Visitors can also purchase the latest e-learning module – Coaching People with a Visual Impairment – and access educational and training resources to help coaches develop the skills to create inclusive and accessible sporting environments for people with sight loss.

In partnership with England Athletics, and integrated into the BBS website, Find a Guide allows VI people to search for a guide runner in your area to help you start, get back into or stay active. Simply search for guide runners near you using your postcode. The database is populated with fully-trained guide runners who have all attended a Sight Loss Awareness and Guide Running workshop, are DBS checked, and are passionate about running and eager to help support people with a visual impairment, whether it’s your first time running or you’re a seasoned runner just looking for more support.

Visitors can register their interest in volunteering opportunities, fundraising activities and BBS ongoing projects including; See My Voice Young Leaders, First Steps Yorkshire, Have a Go Days and Find a Guide. Access British Blind Sport updates, news stories, inspirational case studies and upcoming events, immerse yourself in fresh research and insights into the VI landscape and understand how the industry is changing, plus so much more on this mobile friendly, easy-to-navigate site.

Coming soon to the website! The BBS Activity Finder will launch in early 2019, and will allows users to locate VI friendly activities in their local area. With the aim of increasing participation and making sport and active recreation more accessible for visually impaired people, the Activity Finder will help people to search their local area to find sports clubs, events, competitions and activities which support VI people, making it even easier to find an activity for them, just a stone’s throw away.

For more information on any of the above or any of British Blind Sport’s activities call us on 01926 424247 or email info@britishblindsport.org.uk.

Since 1975, British Blind Sport have been empowering VI people to get active and enjoy sport by creating and promoting inclusive and accessible sporting environments. Many Paralympic Athletes with a visual impairment credit the start of their career in sport to BBS and the team hope to introduce more athletes at the beginning of their careers and VI participants of any level with opportunities to train, compete or just get active and social in activities near them.
