‘As by previous arrangement I was met at Northolt Leisure Centre Underground Station at 2 pm by Ian and Fred. We then walked the short distance to the leisure centre with Ian Francis giving me a very good description of the route so in the hope that something more regular might come up I would be able to get myself too and from without assistance.
Once at the leisure centre, I was introduced to Angela a volunteer who was taking the registration details and checking that all information they already had was correct. Registration complete, Kara my guide dog stayed with Angela and I was then passed on to Chama another volunteer who assisted me to the changing room and then onto the poolside where I was introduced to Carl who was in charge.
My coach for the session was decided, unfortunately, I can’t remember his name. I had about 2 hours of 1 to 1 improving my breast stroke and learning front crawl which I had previously had 2 terms of trying to learn this but achieving nothing!
The instruction I received this time was brilliant which meant that I made a good improvement during the session. If any more sessions could be arranged that would be brilliant news.
Please pass on my thanks to all who were involved in making it such an enjoyable day for me.
Also, It was nice to have a metro event over this side of London.’
