London Metro Futsal Club Report

London Metro Futsal Club (LMFC) returned to training back in late August at the Score centre in Leyton, Gareth and Mark are keen for anyone that wants to come and get involved and play partially sighted football to come and give it a try.

Mark commented, “it’s a great chance to keep fit and play football regularly, we train most Saturday from 10.00-1pm and the sessions are really varied with a real mix of drills, we have got a really good team spirit and all are welcome to get involved.”

Upcoming LMFC Football events here:

On September 16th LMFC took part in the season-opening friendly open cup which took place in Swindon, despite their not being the full complement of teams there, the games were very competitive and London drew 5-5 and lost narrowly 5-3 to eventual winners Birmingham Sports. Saturday, October 14 saw the season start for real with the first league tournament taking place in Birmingham.

London has once again entered two teams an A and a B team which compete in the partially sighted futsal league Divisions 1 & 2 respectively. London initially selected a squad of 12 but due to injuries only had 10 on the day so were not afforded the luxury of any substitutes which during a fast-paced set of games over 90 minutes in total eventually took its toll.

London A despite some really good moments during all 3 matches ended up losing all three games 2-4 against North west scorpion’s green, 1-3 to Northwest scorpion’s pink and 6-9 to league and cup holders Birmingham sports.

The B team put in some really good performances and were unlucky not to come away with a few more points eventually winning two and losing two. They narrowly lost 2-3 to Southwest Rovers, beat RNC 5-0 which they followed up with a 6-1 win over league debutants “Penguins” before finally again narrowly losing out to Winsford in their final game 2-4.
