Archery GB and the Worshipful Company of Fletchers are joining forces to hold a world class event – their first Disability Championships – at Lilleshall in August. It is open to all World Archery classified athletes and athletes with a physical impairment.

Head Paralympic coach Michael Peart said: “We are really looking forward to this event and thank the Worshipful Company of Fletchers for their kind support. It will give our GB Para team a chance to compete in a world class event before the World Championships in September. This will be a great opportunity for our disability athletes to become Archery GB’s disability champions.”

Schedule

The format for this event will be a 720 round with head to heads.

Saturday 26 August: qualification round and finals for the disability categories
Sunday 27 August: finals for the World Archery classified athletes

World Archery classified athletes

Recurve open:

  • Men (70m)
  • Women (70m)

Compound open:

  • Men (50m)
  • Women (50m)

W1:

  • Men (50m)
  • Women (50m)

Les autres: An archer with a physical impairment but who does not have a valid classification under World Archery rules.

  • Disability compound men (50m)
  • Disability compound women (50m)
  • Disability recurve men (70m)
  • Disability recurve women (70m)

Visually impaired athletes

  • Open compound men (30m)
  • Open compound women (30m)
  • Open recurve women (30m)
  • Open recurve men (30m)

Shooting Categories: Despite the confusing terminology in the AGB email and prospectus, all VI Shooting Categories from VI1 to VI-Open are accepted. However, categories could be combined for the finals depending on numbers. Please note that World and UK Records are only available for those complying with VI1 to VI3.

Timing: Registration 10.00 am, shooting will commence about 10.30 am, depending on numbers.  Date: For VI’s it will all be held on Saturday, 26thAugust.

Venue: The Qualifying round and VI finals will take place on the main field – so on grass.

Dogs: For this event they are trying to stick to WA rules as much as possible which do say “No dogs on field of play”. However, assistance dogs are not banned but if you are taking one please let Katy know, her can be found on the paperwork.

Finals: The VI finals will take place on the Saturday so there is no VI involvement on the Sunday.
