METRO BOWLERS WIN THEIR MATCH AGAINST KINGSTON
On Wednesday the 7th of August, the Metro bowlers had their annual bowls match against KAB, Kingston Association for the Blind, bowlers.
Their coach arrived at 1.30 with 8 VI bowlers, 2 markers and a helper. Eric had more than enough players who wanted to play in this nice friendly fixture, so it was agreed to play 3 games, 2 triples and a pairs.
All went well for 2 hours, then suddenly the heavens opened and all had to rush to the club house for shelter. Eric and the KAB captain Jean agreed that they should play no more as the green was saturated and too dangerous to play any more.
Our club secretary Susan, then served up the food and drinks which was paid for by Metro. Jean then read out the scores for the three games. Jackie Venus, John Roulston and Maureen Ryan for Metro won 14-1: Wilbert Williams with Yusuf Zeyrek won their pairs 14-5: Metro’s other triples Josie Wood, Junette Taylor and Khan Gause played well but lost 16-12.
This meant that Metro won the match 2-1 and had a better shot difference. Eric invited them back next summer, and Jean said they would love to come again and try and win again like last year.
After they all got on their coach to take them back to Kingston, all the Metro bowlers went round to the local Wetherspoon for a nice evening.
