Bowls Lead with Fellow Bowlers

Wilbert has been taking part in Blind and partially sighted bowling for many years and has recently taken over as Bowls sport lead from the amazing Eric Gallacher who was the Metro bowls organiser for over 8 years!

This role includes running the Metro Singles and Pairs tournaments, deciding who plays with who and making arrangements for tournaments around the country. In the summer Outdoor season, sessions take place at Ravenscourt Park Bowls Club in Hammersmith, and in the winter these run at Brixton Sports Centre and Wilbert will be helped in his new role by fellow bowlers Jackie, Lea, Maureen.

Wilbert and the Metro Bowlers are always keen to recruit new members and as eric points out that once you’ve had a bit of practice, there are plenty of tournaments all over the country in which you could take part. As an added incentive, once practice is over, everyone heads off to the pub for a meal, a drink and a chat!

So why not give Wilbert a ring to find out more, and if you want to bring along a friend, either visually impaired or sighted, you would be made more than welcome.
