Volunteers are needed for collection at Victoria Station
on Friday 30 September!

Metro has another opportunity to hold a collection day, this time at Victoria train station on the 30 September 2022, from 7:30 am until 7:30 pm. Can you help us to raise money to continue to provide support for sporting and social activities across London?

We are looking for people to come along and help us. Assistance dogs are welcome; if you would like to bring a friend for support, that would be great!.

We will have a rota so you choose what hours you would like to do.

Before starting, people need to bring a photo ID and sit through a ten-minute safety brief.

If you are interested in being part of the day, helping us to raise awareness of the charity and to raise some funds, we would love to hear from you

You will be supplied with collection boxes and tee shirts which you will be able to keep as a thank you after the day.

Guide Dogs have a great service called My Sighted Guide.

My Sighted Guide connects you with a friendly, trained My Sighted Guide volunteer. They can help you get out and do more of the things you love!

Explore new opportunities with a fully trained sighted guide. By partnering up with one of our friendly My Sighted Guide volunteers, you can get out and about and enjoy life’s pleasures with someone who shares your interests; it could be a simple walk in the park, a shopping trip, going to a football match or a visit to an art gallery.

Video Description: A support network of family was crucial for Rik growing up. Born prematurely at 26 weeks, he never let his retinopathy of prematurity define him, instead becoming a talented musician who writes music in his home studio during the week and gigs on weekends. As an adult, Rik wanted to move beyond the support of his family.

He learned about our sighted guiding service, My Guide, through Facebook. Rik and his guide Louise hit it off instantly, and he now says she has “opened up the world to me, and it feels like an adventure”.

We have always offered a meet and greet service for members for our football sessions from Leyton Tube Station. The current situation makes offering this service a challenge in the short term. Therefore, we would advise players to safely make their own way to the Score Centre wherever possible.

If this is not possible then arrangements can be made. We will discuss guiding requirements with those players that have booked in to play 24 hours before the session, via email or text.
