Sporting Champions – Funding!

Sporting Champions - funding and support!

Everyone Active’s Sporting Champions provides funding and support for talented athletes from across the UK.

Everyone Active’s Sporting Champions scheme was launched in 2016, with the aim of providing ongoing support for talented athletes across the UK. Through our work with local authorities across the country, we have already supported more than 500 athletes with over £1million worth of sponsorship over the past four years.

Everyone Active’s Sporting Champions aims to continue our support for athletes by offering both monetary funding and access to Everyone Active’s 150 leisure centres across the country.

Everyone Active are delighted to have the support of former Olympic medallists, Colin Jackson and Steve Parry, who are the official ambassadors of Everyone Active Sporting Champions scheme.

Becoming a sporting hero comes with a financial burden and, for many of our athletes, they will also be provided with funding support to help pay for training, equipment, travel and competition costs.

If you’re a UK athlete who is looking to achieve your full potential with a little support, we’d love to hear from you.

Applications are now open until 16th February .

Do stop by and say hello to our friendly collectors. If you’re able, please donate – it would be most appreciated! We will gladly take your old pound coins and five-pound notes too!

You can also support our work with a donation online.

Making a direct impact

In 2016 commuters and local residents donated over £13,000 to our Geranium Day appeal. This tremendous generosity is enabling us to make a direct impact on the lives of people living with sight loss.

For example, raising the same amount this year would help pay for 3,250 hot meals at local GLFB-funded centres or cover the cost of transport for medical appointments for 2,167 visually impaired people. So do drop a coin or two if you get the chance!

Coming together in pursuit of a single goal

Speaking to volunteer collectors and supporters, Andrew Banfield, GLFB collections manager said: “Geranium Day is more than just a great opportunity to raise funds for visually impaired people – it is also a day of solidarity.  All the GLFB member charities, staff and volunteers come together in pursuit of a single goal”.

You can also support our work with a donation online. Whatever you are able to give to our Geranium Day appeal, your gift will enable us to fund some fantastic projects and much-needed services for people who urgently need our support.

Your generosity will help make a difference to the lives of people affected by sight loss. Thank you in advance for whatever you are able to give.
